What is Northwest Hub?
The Northwest Hub is a not for profit full service bicycle shop, bike reclamation program and training center. Proceeds from our cycling center directly serve neighbors in need of transportation who "purchase" a bike through service to our community. Through recycling, reclamation, training and redistribution, the NW Hub provides affordable services and sales to the general public and free bicycles, locks, parts, repair training and vocational rehabilitation to adults and at-risk youth.
If you dig what we do and want to support us, there are many things you can do: check out our repair menu and let us fix your bike; volunteer your time with us; donate your old bike; or simply make a financial contribution.
Thanks for checking us out, now come and see us sometime.
The Northwest Hub has available used bikes and new and used parts.
The Hub also has a fleet of restored and rebranded classic bikes, built with the commuter in mind. These bikes are simple, powder-coated steel framed bikes with high quality wheels and tires. Used parts are utilized where possible, but never to the detriment of durability.
The Hub makes inexpensive bicycle locks for clients of our volunteer program which are also available for purchase. They utilize high-strength steel link chains wrapped in used bicycle tubes and come with either a keyed or combo lock.
The Hub is also exploring various "up-cycling" projects to better utilize scrap bicycles and associated parts. Currently, The Northwest Hub is building light fixtures and other bicycle-inspired functional sculptures for residential and business use.
The Northwest Hub endeavors to empower our clients with the confidence to utilize their bicycle to the fullest.
Currently, we are partnering with community outreach groups to address the needs of their clients. However, we do plan to offer a recurring curriculum of educational classes, from basic commuter skills and "need to knows" to professional mechanic's training. Keep checking back for updates.
