Free Tax Preparation Help Available

AARP Foundation’s Tax-Aide has been assisting filers for 50 years

 

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide offers free tax preparation assistance beginning Feb.1. Now in its 50th year, Tax-Aide has helped 50 million low- and moderate-income taxpayers. You don’t have to be an AARP member, and there’s no age requirement to get tax help from IRS-certified volunteers.

Walk-in sites in Salem:

    Dayspring Fellowship, 1755 Lockhaven Drive, Keizer
    Monday and Thursday 1:00 to 7:00 p.m.; Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

    Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1770 Baxter Road SE, Salem
    Monday and Friday 1:00 to 6:00 p.m.; Saturday 9:00 a.. to 4:00 p.m.

 

Trained volunteers prepare federal and state income tax returns free for anyone subject to complexity restrictions, like no farms, rental income, businesses except the most simple.  No restrictions on age or income.  This service is provided by AARP and the IRS.

Documents people must bring include photo id for every taxpayer, social security or ITIN cards or papers for every person on the return, and all necessary papers showing income, deductions, adjustments, credits, tax payments.

 

Before visiting a Tax-Aide site, please note:

  • You will need to bring your important documents to the site. Access the complete list.
  • Federal Tax assistance is available at all locations. State tax assistance is available at all locations in your state for in-state residents, and may be available to out-of-state residents in select neighboring states. Please contact sites in your neighboring state to confirm availability.
  • Site hours are subject to change on a weekly basis. Therefore, please check again the day before you plan to go to the site.
